I need to impliment vertias backup for our two locations. The first location is our home office. The other is our hosting facility where we host numerour websites on many servers. Our only connection to the hosting facility is over the Internet with no VPN.
I am guessing that it is impractical to backup over the internet because there are 20+ GB of data. As a result we should buy a tape drive/auto-loader for each location.
Should I have "veritas media servers" for each location and one "veritas central admin server" controlling both. Or should I not have a "veritas central admin server" and only the two "veritas media servers"?
In addition, our hosting facility has multiple subnets seperated by firewalls. If i configure the ports on the firewall as necessary, can I have the 1 hosting media server backup servers on the different subnets?
Our home office will be backing its own data, restoring its own data ,and restoring the hosting facilities data when necessary. How will the home office media server know the catalouge of tapes and files on the tapes?
thanks
