Veritas backup exec 7.0 very slow

I have a problem with my Veritas backup exec 7.0 speed. I am running an HP Bnchmark1 DLT drive and the backup is very slow. It is a new intall of Windows NT 4.0 and I am using an HP driver from the current website,version 1.7.

I have an identical setup on an older machine which is runnig very well and can copy around 56 gig in 6 hours to tape.

I am not verifying data at all from Backup Exec and I can only assume that the driver is correct.

Any assistance would be appreciated.
