i was wondering if anyone out there is using a IBM 3581 Autoloader connected to a Windows server using Veritas 9? If so, how does that combination work out? how does the autoloader work with Veritas?

Thank you for any replies.

I take it you have that device and are curious if it works with Veritas. Check their website, see if they have a supported drives document. Should work fine if its on that list. Backup Exec is the product I have been using on my Windows Servers for years now, and whether its a standard cartridge drive, autoloader, AIT, or DLT, its always worked well. Veritas has a presales department that may help you find the answer if you can't find it at their website. Good luck!

Thank you for the reply.

I checked Veritas's website and their software, ver 9.x, does support the 3581. According to IBM, the 3581 will work on a windows based server and they provide the drivers.

I was just looking for some personal experience with the matchup or if anyone knows anyone. I have tried to convince my higher ups that everything would be fine but they like to try to have some user input before going with something.

I've used drives very comprable to that one, and it should be fine...

And when you run the setup, do choose the option to use drivers supplied by backup exec, they typically do work better.
