The backup server is a Dual AMD Athlon MP 2400+ w/2G Memory, Win2000 SP4, Veritas 9.1 SP1. The backup server (BS) has an Adaptec iSCSI 7211c which is connected to a REO 4000 (CAT6) and a Adaptec SCSI 39160/3960D Ultra 160 connecting to a Dell PowerVault 132T all running Gig.
I have found a single article related to the issue at hand: This is the exact issue that I am currently having.
There are two jobs running for a complete backup to happen. The initial backup of the source server to the REO4000 using Veritas 'Backup to Disk'. Maximum size for 'Backup to Disk' file is set to 2Gb file size. The second job is a dup to tape job that runs from the REO4000 to the Powervault 132T. This job completes succesfully with verify after tape is written.
When I go to do a test restore the restore off of the REO4000 is successful. I then sucessfully did an inventory of the two tapes that were written to from the original job. When I do the catalog of the tapes I receive the following error from the job:
Job ended: Thursday, November 11, 2004 at 9:19:15 AM
Completed status: Failed
Final error: 0xa00084fa - One or more pieces of media in the media family being cataloged has not been inventoried.
No objects on these media may be cataloged.
Final error category: Resource Errors
I turned off the 'Use storage media-based catalogs' option under catalog in the preferences options and attempted to catalog the tapes. This time I receive a 100% successful with '0' byte count. The job does not seek out the other tape for catalog only that individual tape that was setup in the initial catalog job.
I then proceeded to take these tapes to another backup server with only a standalone LTO2 drive, thus there is no 'storage based catalogs' on this device from the job that wrote to these tapes. The error is the same as on the original server with 0xa00084fa error.
When the daily dif's run I can inv/cat this successfully being it is only one single tape.
Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.
