I have one of the tape drives on my library showing us offline - the device tab shows it thinks it has a tape as bad media in the drive. There is no tape in the drive, i have restarted the services. Is there a cache to clear perhaps????

I cant reboot the server as it is business critical - any thoughts???

Disable and delete the drive out of backup exec and then cycle the servcies. If it doesnt pick the drive back up then check you system log for event ID 7, 11, 15, or 9..hardware or scsi problem.

Most likely you will need to power down the library and server then power back up to get it back online.
