Veritape software corrupting DUN...?

Machine running W2K Pro, SP1, Conexant PCI modem. All works fine... However, running Veritape software appears to corrupt the Dial Up Networking connection so that modem won't dial. Making a fresh DUN connection resolved this problem, but how can it be fixed permanently?
