Hi....just after I get the server running and the clients connected it all goes terribly wrong!

One of Murphy's Laws states "That with every new solution comes a new problem" This must have been writen with computers in mind.

Anyhow, I was using 3rd party partitioning software and it screwed everything. Not sure how I am going to sort it out.

I have a 40gig HD after it went tits up FDISK was only showing 30gig available on the drive and it couldn't display the other 10gig (other partition) Win2k Pro setup shows it as unpartitioned but I am unable to do anything with it.

I have totally formatted the drive and tried to install win2k which seems to go ok but then after the files have been copied and I reboot I get the DMI Pool error.

I've deleted the primary partition and re-installed under FDISK but still no good.

i have had to revert back to Win98 at the mo as it is the only OS I can get working (but now with no CDROM under windows)

Has anyone got any suggestions?

Sounds like the problem could possibly be in the master boot recors (MBR) Try restoring by FDISK /MBR.

I once had one stubborn drive that required me to go in and physically write all zeroes on the first few tracks with Notton's Disk Edit program, before it would behave.

Hope this helps.
