All was fine. BE 8.6 on 2000 server, fully packed. Out of nowhere, verify starts to take so long that tape cannot be ejected in a timely fashion by user the next day.
Changed settings that I thought would apply to no avail.
Uninstalled all and upgraded to BE10d, hoping that this would address the issue. Though the backup throughput is about 110+ MB/min, the verify is about 18 MB/Min.
This causes jobs to run 18+ hours, way to long.
Can't find resolution anywhere.

Help

Thanx in Advance,

Tom

would say, if nothing has changed, that the tape drive is having a problem reading the tapes.
check the tapes to see if there are any soft/hard read errors.

also try a redirected restore, see how fast it goes.

Justin did a restore of a folder or 2 and it was painfully slow. I'm going to put in another drive next thanx, I'll let you know how turns out.

I agree its the drive. The read head is going bad
