The following "error" was displayed when I was setting up new VDN's

"Number of CMS-measured VDNs exceeds CMS administered maximum"

Anyone know where I can check the limit and/or how do I increase the limit? Is it a licence issue?

Dave

You have to change the "Data Storage Allocation" table in CMS to monitor more VDNs. This can be found in the "System Setup" menu.

You'll probably have to do this after hours because you have to turn off data collection (I think it's the Data Collection menu item in System Setup) as well as put the CMS into Single User Mode (From the CMS State menu item in System Setup.) Once you change the Data Storage Allocation table, you'll want to make sure you have enough space allocation in the "Free Space Allocation" table.

You can look in you CMS Documentation manual for additional information.

It appears that we have used up all our BCMS allocation

If i display capacity I get the following:

BCMS Measured VDN's

Used 512
Available 0
System Limit 512

can this be increased?

Dave

I assume you have an S8300? I believe you cannot increase the BCMS Measurements allowed on the S8300. Anyone want to correct me on that?

It's an S8700, can they be increased or are we stuck and have to try to pursuade the business to rethink which they want to measure?

As the error states: "Number of CMS-measured VDNs exceeds CMS administered maximum" -this has nothing to do with BCMS.
You need to take marcell55's advice and increase the data storage allocation.
On the VDN form, in the field 'measured' you have four options, none (self explanatory), internal (BCMS), external (CMS) and both (BCMS and CMS) - you can play around with these perhaps...

Sorry I only saw DPhil's reply referencing BCMS, I should have picked up on the original error, marcell55 and BIS are correct.
