VDN and Phone Display Limitation

Hello everyone,

Currently when we receive calls via a VDN the phone display will only show the first 15 characters of the VDN name. The PBX will allow you to enter around 27 characters for the VDN Name. We have completed tests with Callmaster 3, 4, and 5's. Each test proved that we only see the first 15 characters regardless of what the actual VDN name is. Does anyone know a way around this or does it require certain types of phones? We run version 11 (G3R).

Certain types of phones have larger or smaller displays, therefore the number of characters you see will depend upon the phone.

Thanks for the info. We have done more testing with an 8434 phone and we are still only getting the first 15 characters of the VDN name. I am beginning to think this is a system limatation.
