Hi all,
Havent posted here in a while-been busy.
Anyway.
Here is my conundrum.
I would like to create a VB Script or otherwise which creates a shortcut to a network connection and places it on the currently logged on users desktop....
The network connection is already created and exists in the "Network Connections" folder-it is called "Wireless" on all the machines......
I intend to deploy the script with altiris and it will be deployed to XP SP1 machines only.
I have done some looking around on this and fear it may not be possible but I hope that someone can shed some light on the issue.
Thanks in Advance,
Kippy

Does anyone even know if this is remotely possible?

try the GUI, if you can do it with the GUI then yes it can be done.

i have just created a shortcut on my desktoop to my Local Area Connection. i can then right click on the shortcut and it will give me details of the shortcut which will give the information needed to create it programitically.
the info points to a GUID string, markdmac has recently posted something about shortcuts and GUIDS...perhaps this will lead you in the right direction..
