VB6: conflict between oca and ocx reference

I have recently distributed an application that fails intermittently by failing to update a field with the current date. The control(s) are cstext32.oca and cstext32.ocx. My question is that when these two controls are in the same project references is there a potential for conflict? Out on a limb here but that's the first clue that I am pursuing. Any help is much appreciated.
