I'm writing a VB6 application which references an Access 2000 db.
My students have all the OS's from W98 to XP.
When I distribute my exe can I distribute the same db support files for all OS's or do I need to include a correct set for each possible OS?

For example will Jet 4 do it for all , MDAC 27?

Your best bet is probably to use MS Installer rather than the P&D Wizard. Installer allows you to specify at a much finer granularuty, where DLL's and such will be installed. This turns out to be critical because some of the DLL's like COMCTL32.DLL vary from one OS to another and, if you replace a Win2k version with a Win98 version (for example) in Windoes\System then not only will the application not run, but Win2K may not run. If you place the necessary support files in the same directory as the EXE then the exe will use those files rather than the "system" ones in Windows\System. The OS however will not be affected by those program-specific copies and will run as usual from the the Windoes\System or Windoes\NT directory.

Re: Jet 4/MDAC 2.7
Yeah I think so ... but I also think that MDAC 2.6 will work for Jet 4.0. MDAC is however a special case. The installer will check for the correect MDAC release but ususlly will not install it automatically.
