Does anyone have any suggestions / advice for setting up automated FAX'ing?

I have tried to find OCX / API components to enable a VB application to automatically send FAX's through the Windows 2000 Server - Shared FAX Services.

So far I have not found anyone with any suggestions on either finding the necessary components and/or how to accomplish the task. Neither in the Tek-Tips Windows 2000 Server forum nor elsewhere on the Web.

If you have any suggestions, they would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

I use Symantec winfax pro v10.0. I am doing exactly what you want to do with it. The COM is very well referenced and the SDK gives you everything you need to get your automatic fax program up and running.

It has been quite a while since I have gotten back to this forum, but my problem persists.

I cannot use WinFAX since, according to Symantec, it does not operate as a Server, merely a Local FAX.

I have too many users each needing to send out 100's of FAX's to utilize Local Faxing.

My Windows 2000 Server (SBS) has the MS Shared FAX "Server" which works manually fine, but I have not yet found API/OLE objects with which I can directly control it.

I am currently outputing DOC files through Outlook using the Shared FAX Transport and it is working, but Outlook, by itself, opens Word to "print" the document to the Shared FAX. All of that going on at the same time stresses the user's workstation resources leading to too frequent crashes.

I would like to find a more direct approach.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks,

I just spent ten minutes trying to log on to this sadalkfjsdkljfhsdkjfhsdkjfhds forum to answer your post. Can't get there from here. Came in thru google, but when you sign up for the bbs system, it still won't let you reply to the post until you figure out where the heck the forum is (three or four non-intuitive levels deep.)

I almost gave up, but it became a challenge. I noticed one message in this forum had a contact email in it, don't know how to set mine.

One of my programmers is automating MS shared fax server right now. Watch out, MS has crippled the software to only support 4 simultaneous fax lines. To impress Jodie Foster.

If you can send me your email, I'll ask him to send you a link to the SDK info he is using.

If you read my forum handle, you should be able to figure out my email name. I'd put it in this message, but I'm afraid this finicky bbs software would dsiconnect my sewer service or something.

bradatelstoredotcom,

Welcome to Tek-Tips. To get the best from these forums, read faq222-2244. We don't usually do the email thing, as it defeats the whole idea of the forum, which is to share knowledge between professionals.

Why don't you just post the link to the SDK here so we can all gain from your skills and knowledge.

We look forward to seeing more from you!
