Can anyone tell me how to fix this?
I have a VB front end connecting to a local microsoft access database which has a link to a SQL database. The DSN is all set up. I am writing to the SQL database through the linked connection in MS access. When the MS ACCESS database links were setup, an ID and password were supplied, I also clicked on the "SAVE PASSWORD" in order to save the password. Sometimes a box pops up asking the user to put in the ID and password. Is there anyway I can edit the registery to save the password?

Thanks.

I guess my first question is why are you going through Access to link to a SQL Table? It would be much more efficient if you just went directly to SQL...

Good question. The reason being in case the LAN goes down I can save the data at the PC.

Unfortunately, I know of no way to store the password for a DSN Connection to SQL. I don't know what you're environment is but an alternative would be to use Integrated NT security.

Also, what is your setup if the LAN actually goes down? Are you going to write to a local table in that database instead of the linked table?

Yes, if the lan goes down, it is saved into that table, when it is disconnected, the record should be sitting there in the tablel.
