VB Email Handler

Hi,

Need to get a quick report set up to accept text and enter in db, and upon completion i need a mail handler to be sent out. Does anyone have a quick piece of mail handler code and even odbc connection code would be great as well.Haven't touched vb and access for ages. Cheers

Look at CDONTS. I was able to set up email send with it in an hour or so, without having used it before. Don't have the code, sorry. Also, there are numerous sites that have lists of connection strings.

I think I'd probably be looking at CDO For Windows 2000 or CDO for Exchange 2000/2003 Server rather than the aging (and more limited) CDONTS

Of course, there's always Access' SendObject action (but that requires that at least one MAPI client ot have been installed on the workstation ...

I've used CDonts and it works fine. Very simple too. Again, I can't find my app with it in but do a search and you'll find it. Doesn't rely on having exchange or anything installed.

A teeny clue: the NTS in CDONTS stands for "NT Server"

CDONTS actually requires a working IIS with a properly configured default SMTP service (with the further proviso that it does not run remotely; it only works on the 'server' that is running IIS)

Where I work we use the vbsmtp control with great success. It's simple and effective.

The CDO libraries I mentioned earlier are also fairly simple and effective (and are included in W2000, XP, W2003)
