I am trying to use DAO to access an Access database's system tables but when I pass the SQL string I get the following error:

' error received '3112 - Record(s) cannot be read; no read permissions on MSysQueries'

When I run the same SQl in the MS Access database itself the records are returned.

Any help appreciated.

The first think that comes to mind is:

It's probably a system with User-Level Security.

If the answer is Yes, most likely you need to have the correct permition. The error message is stating that you do not have.

Brazil is right. I believe when you don't specify a user id when opening a recordset it assumes you are "admin". Check the permissions for the user "admin" in the database you are trying to access.

The database may also need compacting and reparing.
