Hey All,

Calling all geeks out there, i have a small problem, im linking to a csv file in access via vb DAO(i know i know), but my problem is that when i link, it automatically determines the Type of the fields, eg. what it thinks is a date field becomes a date/time type. I need a way of turning this off, because these dates can be is 'US' or any format and i want to manipulate them as text.

Any Ideas??

Ben

I'm not quite smart enough to be a geek, but I have solved that issue in the past by importing the csv file into an Access table instead of linking it. I am assuming that it is linked because the data changes periodically - you could setup a macro that will delete the current table and re-import the file using a file specification that will set all of the fields to text, then run the macro every time the data is updated, or before it is used. I hope that helps.
