VAR Wars?

My employer is in the midst of some pretty nasty Value Added Reseller wars. We've got an international need that the local can't handle; the international VAR is being boxed out by the local. Last time I checked, I lived and worked in a country that has a free market economy. Anyone have any tips to try to mitigate this nonsense?
