SUN server. In the /var/tmp directory are lots of files named license_log.old.(date). Can thes ebe safely cleared down.

Assuming you're satisfied that they don't contain anything of use to you later, yes. Why not back them up to tape first, just in case!

as Ken writes, if they don't contain any information you need in future you can delete these files (afaik they contain some temporary information of the fortran compiler licenses)
