Vanished Messages when Send/Receive

This doesn't normally happen unless something else has specifically been put into place.
Do you have Archiving turned on? Do you have some server-side rules created that might have routed emails somewhere else or something? Is your client still connected to the .pst file? Is your server configured to only keep mail up to a certain date?
