A form data field does not display the data from an underlying table field in form view. The field type is a combo box. I've set the Bound Column property to 2 and the Column Count value to 1, to pick up the correct value from the list, but it displays nothing. When I click on the field, it displays a drop-down list with what appears to be a value from a different field in the same form? Any advice on what I'm doing wrong?

I'm not sure I fully understand your question (field type is combo box)

But you need to have at least a Column Count of 2 if you are going to use the second column as the Bound Column

PaulF

Row source type isTable/Query and row source is the underlying table.

I have table called Jobs, one of whose fields is called Department, which is a combo box (drop-down list) referencing a table of that same name, created using the Lookup wizard. The primary key (hidden field) is the Department's budget number, and the Department's name is the value that shows in the Jobs table and which should show in the Form View of the Form names Jobs, but which is not.

I have set the Bound Column value to 2, and the Column Count to 1. (I tried setting Column Count to 2, but that did not solve the problem.)

Ok, so you use LookUp as the field type, and now you want to show this field on the new form you have created. This is from the Access 97 Help file. Check out the part about Dragging from the Field List

Create a bound list box or combo box that displays fixed values

1 Create a Lookup field in table Design view.

How?

Note You can create a lookup list box or combo box without creating a Lookup field, but if you create a Lookup field in table design, you only need to create the list box or combo box once. Then you can use the same lookup list on any form. If you don't plan to use the same lookup list in more than one form, you can use the List Box Wizard or Combo Box Wizard in form Design view.

2 Do one of the following:

· Create a new form based on a record source that includes the Lookup field you created in step 1. Microsoft Access automatically creates the lookup list box or combo box.
· Open an existing form based on a record source that includes the Lookup field you created in step 1. In form Design view, click Field List on the toolbar to display the field list, and then drag the Lookup field from the field list to the form. Microsoft Access automatically creates the lookup list box or combo box.

3 Switch to Form view to test the list box or combo box.

PaulF

Try this for your row source

SELECT DISTINCTROW [Departments].[BudgetNumber], [Departments].[DepartmentName] FROM [Departments];

Set your column count = 2
Set your column widths to = 0

I'm working on an HR/ Scheduling database, and I'm trying to get data from one table to pop in another. The first table is tblEmployees with employee # as the key, and the second table is tblAvailability, also with employee # as key. Using and input form for the employee availability table, how do I get the form to pull employee infor from the employee table after entering employee #?
