Because of this gdm (and kdm) fail to start on Debian 30r2. Looking for clues as to which packages need installed. I've done dpkg -l and xfree86-common is installed as are gdm and kde.

What package actually installs X?

Its ok, found xfree86.

Just did a dpkg -l x* and saw that no Xservers were installed. Then did a apt-get install.

ok now...
