I am wondering if it is possible to use the native windows 2000 backup/restore features to restore tapes created by Veritas BackupExec 8.6 build 3808?
ANy help is appreciated.
Thank you!

Yes you can. Veritas uses standard MS tape format.
Just have to enable Removable Storage Service and thats it.

Probably yes; Veritas helped develop the Microsoft Backup program, I believe it still shares similarities with it. I don't think you would be able to restore stuff backed up with Veritas' various agents (e.g. Exchange, SQL) but if it's just files and directories you ought to be able to read these fine.
