Hello Everyone,

Currently at my job anyone with a laptop and an Ethernet cable can access our network. I have heard that it is feasible to force anyone attempting to access a network to authenticate with Active Directory first, then that particular switchport will be opened for that user.

From what little I have heard, the setup involves configuring a switch(Cisco in my case) to only allow connections for users that are authenticated against Active Directory running on a Windows IAS server....

Has anyone heard of/set this up before ?

802.1X sounds like what you're looking for. Different setups for different switch makes/models but the protocol's pretty much the same.

Yes! Reading up on it now.
Thanks for the help! I appreciate it!
