Hello,
I am a Linux newbie, but with a willingness to learn. Getting tired of the easiness of windows, ready for a challenge. I am not technically illiterate, so I think I should be able to work with the world away from windows. With that said, I just installed Red Hat Linux 9 (dual boot with Win XP) and have run into a problem. I have a Wireless USB network adapter (made by Yikes! Microsoft) and cannot figure out how to get it to operate on my workstation.
Can someone point me to the right set of instructions to get it running?

Thanks very much for any help.

Nick

check out the linux wlan project - they're pretty up to date with wireless drivers. that said, some drivers are either a real pig to install, or completely non-existant. Good luck!

<marc> i wonder what will happen if i press this...[pc][ul][li]please give feedback on what works / what doesn't[/li][li]need some help? how to get a better answer: faq581-3339[/li][/ul]

Thanks for the help messages. I think I got the driver installed (not really sure since I have no Linux experience), but I see a message at startup that says something along the lines of unable to find?load? p80211.o

Any ideas what I did wrong?

Nick

When you plugged in the USB, did RedHat indicate New Hardware?

You then should have the option to load the driver?

Another option is to find out who provides the hardware for MSC, Belkin, SMC and try their Linux Driver.

RedHat has a usbview rpm which would give you information about USB hardware on
