Hello

I am about to embark on adding barcode scanning capabilites to my app. I need to use the Comm. control for this as the device connects to the serial port.

However the sales rep. said there was no driver disk with the scanner. (But he was a lamer...I mean "technically disadvantaged"). but when I looked up the Comm control in MSDN and it said this :

"...you are issuing API functions, which are then interpreted by Comm.drv and passed to the device driver."

DEVICE DRIVER is the operative word here. So whats the deal here, is there a generic driver available? Do I even need a driver?

I have worked with barcode scanners and usually they have programming barcodes that you would scan to set what barcode typology you are using, some auto-learn. We build a barcode control using the MSCOMM control. Set the COM port, Baud, etc and that's it.
