Hi!

I have an 8500 Avaya Media Server, and I use the Avaya Site Administration to manage it. So I discover that the ASA has a tool named Trunk Analizer, but I don't know how to use it very well. I would like to know how can I do or if is necessary to have always the ASA opened to receive daily the statistics because the only data that I have active is from when I configured it.

Thanks

Ok, so I need to have the Asa always opened, rigth?, I had make some changes, I deleted some trunk groups, but when I run the trunk analizer I see it, how can I update the information about the trunks? I have not foun much information about it :(

Code:
Trunk Analyzer Report Properties screen - Date range

This screen enables you to specify the range of days to collect the data. Based on the criteria you specify on the General tab, the system provides recommendations for achieving the desired grade of service.

1	In the Date Range Required fields, enter the starting and ending dates for which you want to measure trunk data. The date range required must fall within the date range specified in the Date Range Available field. The Date Range Available dates indicate the dates trunk data was collected for that voice system.

To change the date, click the down arrow and make the date change on the popup calendar.
2	Select the days of the week that you want to include on the report. Only include the days of the week when you want to achieve the required GOS. For example, you might not want to include weekends or weekdays when the trunk isn’t being used.

3	When you are satisfied with your settings, click:

·	OK to see the report
·	Apply if you want to implement the settings and leave the Trunk Analyzer Report screen displayed.
·	Cancel to cancel the reporting task and return to the main screen

When the trunk analyzer report displays, it will list a recommendation for adding or removing trunks based on the grade of service you specified on the General tab.

4	You can perform several other tasks from this report.

I found this in the help section in ASA by searching "trunk analyzer". You may find more about it in that section. After you log in, look at the last option to the right at the top of the page help. Go into find.

yes. have asa run 24/7 but it isn't required. You just want asa to poll the pbx once every 24 hours. Once data is learned about the trunk you'll always see it. Unless you delete the data and start over.

Thank you guys for your advice & prompt response, I really appreciate it!!! I just have a little doubt more, When I try to change the date range, the only date that I have available is the correspondig to the day that I configured the Trunk Analizer, I tought that as the days pased by, the range would gradually increase, that is the reason that I tought ASA had to be running all the time. I don't know if I need to do something else.

Have you scheduled ASA to poll the trunk report daily?

and are you saving all the data? Both are required. Data for a few days isn't going to tell you anything. You need 3 to 6 months worth of data to really tell if your over or under trunked.

Goto the data polling schedule in the fault and preformance tap. Right click on trunk analizer and then click on schedule to change the dates

I'll make a test and I'll let you know what happened, Thank you so much :)
