Hi All,

Me again, sorry.

Is it possible to use a Terminal Service Client (TSC) without going through a VPN?

I use the web based TSC on my laptop when out and about with a VPN and it works well, however if I am on another machine, say in an internet cafe, by pointing the browser at my machine (I have a static IP) is there a way of looking at my remote machine?

I have tried but I get a message telling me that the IP or name can't be found.

Remote Desktop is checked in the Firewall settings

Thanks again

Derek

Since you have a static IP, have you tried typing that in rather than using the machine name?

Question why would u want to do that anyway? You are opening yorself up to the world... making yourself an easy target.. Whats wrong with using VPN, VPN over PPTP is simple to setup and if u want more security use VPN with IPsec.

I don't have a problem with VPN at all. As I said in my question I use it all the time anyway. What I was wondering is is there a way say if your in an Internet cafe or using someone elses computer who didn't want you to creat VPN connections on their computer. I understand the risks but was wondering if there is anything in place or you could do to get through to my remote machine.
