I was told that I could install SQL's 7.0 Personal Edition on my Win98 without the use of a server. Is this at all true?
If so, any suggestion in how to install it without confusion.
SQL Server Desktop is a feature of SQL Server and is not available as a stand-alone product. SQL Server Desktop may be deployed and used on devices to which a per-seat SQL Server CAL has been dedicated.
You may also be considering Microsoft Data Engine (MSDE).
It is available with Microsoft Access 2000 and other Microsoft products. It is 100 percent compatible with SQL Server. You may use MSDE in conjunction with any of these products, or on a stand-alone basis, without purchasing any CALs. Terry Broadbent
