Using scripts to set XP local policies

I have a lot of PC's to configure with around 30 policy settings (same policies on each machine).
Instead of using gpedit.msc on each I would like to have a script do it for me. Is this possible and how do I go about it (ie point me to the best resources inc. table of all current XP polices that I would need to pick from)

gives you excel spreadsheet with tabs for different versions of windows and the polices that can be applied to each.
