I want to connect to my computer at my office using remote desktop in xp but my work computer is on a router sharing with 3 other computers how do i do this? Is it as simple as the ip address of the router then the name of the computer im trying to reach?

You need to open and forward port 3389 on the router to the internal ip address of your windows xp machine at work. Then you need to enable remote desktop on your windows xp machine. Right click on My Computer, select the remote tab, then check the 'Allow users to connect remotely to this computer' under Remote Desktop section. You should also add the users who you want to be able to connect here.
