I have a Cisco 2620 using NAT to provide private addresses in the 10.0.0.x range. I have a web server with a public IP that has a static route to the box's private IP. When on the inside on a laptop, I can't use the public IP, only the private IP works. How can I make the public IP work as well?

Thanks!
Josh

You NAT the public IP to a private IP on the inside.

Chris.

Not sure what exactly what you are trying to ask, but this might help.....

ip nat source inside static x.x.x.x y.y.y.y

where x.x.x.x is the internal address and y.y.y.y is the external.

Jrobs,

That's just the way it works. You will not be able to browse to the Public IP via you LAN. I've seen it a hundred times.

OK, I think I found a workaround...don't use the IP! If I use the name, it resolves outside the building where the primary DNS is (another datacenter), then comes back in correctly!

Thanks!
