USING POINT-TO-POINT T1 OR MOVING TO PTP PRI ?

I have succesfully setup a point-to-point T1 using it as a tie line with E&M, setup target lines on both locations and destination codes, and everything was working execellent, until I realize that when I call from site A to site B or vice-versa, I would not hear a ring on the side that was making the call most of the time,but the side that was receiving the call would always get a ringing sound, and I have tried everything that I could possibly do with no positive results, always the same issue, dead air on the side that makes the call most of the time.

I was thinking about moving to an MCDN with SL-1 networking where I can used a point-to-point PRI, My questions is? if I move to MCDN Sl-1 networking will the dead air(no ring sound) issue go away?
 
1. there was a problem with the ringback on PRIs in 6.1
make sure you have the latest sw and same versions on both the sides
Can the person talk after someone answers or is it oneway speech?

2. check the number of digits that are expected ...eg pvt numbering plan, 4 digits
 
Well I had on both sides xc 6.1 , and everything works great, both sides can communicate with no problem, just that the side that tries to make the call you dont always here the ringing sound, but the side that is receiving the call always heres the phone ringing. It's an intermittent problem,does not happen all the time, but most of the time, because it works fine sometimes and both sides get the ring tone, and then only the side receiving the call gets the ring tone.
 
are the DTIs off-core?

make sure that the SP: ends in G10
 
yes, both cards are set on off-core.

Site A
SP : 30CPG10 NAT
OFF-CORE PORT 8

Site B
SP : 30CPE06 NAT
OFF-CORE PORT 7

Both are xc 6.1

Do you think if I get the 30CPG10 on site B, that this issue will be gone?

 
i had the exact problem ... it was solved after matching the softwares. it happens on certian channels

There was a free replacement with nortel ...i dont know if that 'free' is still valid ...check with ur vendor
 
Thanks Senk1s, for that revelation, I will tried it and HOPE that it works for me too. So were you also using point-to-point T1 as E&M, and you had the same issues were only the phone receiving the call would here a ring and the phone making the call would get dead air most of the time....just wanted to double check....but thanks for that very valuable information....an i will try that for sure.
