Using Outlook/Exchange in and out of office

I have a user that has a notebook computer. They come into work and I have the Microsoft Exchange service setup in their Outlook so they connect directly to the Exchange server.

Now the user wants to travel with their notebook, but still be able to see their Exchange folders.

I setup the service for offline files, which works fine when I unplug the notebook from the network, I can fire up Outlook and see all the users mail.

But now the issue I have is when they travel and are on a dial-up, how to synchronize the mail they send/recieve while traveling vs. what's on the Exchange server? The receive is simple, I've set the Advanced option in the Internet E-mail to keep a copy on the server. So the remaining issue is the emails the user sends while traveling and synching those up with their Exchange mailbox.

The only solution I can come up with is when they come into the office, they'll have to import their Sent Items folder from the PST. Is that the only way to do it?

Is the user dialing up to an ISP or directly into the server? If they are dialing into the server then they should be using Outlook in exacly the same way as if they were connected to the LAN - they should be using Outlook in corporate mode and not internet mail.

If they are dialing up to an ISP then, using RAS on the server, get them to VPN to the server and again they can use Outlook as if on the LAN
