Picture this senario. My CEO likes to use two identical notebook computers, currently Win2k, with one as a backup made by Norton ghosting it from the other. We are looking to purchase two IBM TP's with OEM installed Windows XP Pro. As a speaker at conferences, he maintains identical systems just in case he needs a backup should one fail. (This has saved him in the past). He would like to continue using ghost periodically for backups.
As a test I purchase two Windows XP Pro's and loaded it on two identical IBM TP 600X's. I Started Ghosting the system back and forth. In the beginning, everything was fine. A few more ghost revealed that I can no longer log onto a domain, of all things, complaining about server authenication as opposed to activation problems, that I would have expectd.
Unorthodox, I agree, but does anyone have any idea or have a method that may work? Even ideas would be accepted. Thanks in advance
