I have been having trouble with the PS2 ports (keyboard and mouse) on my P3 Win 98 machine. I purchased a usb keyboard to get around the problem and it works fine. I was too cheap to purchase USB mouse and am trying to get a PS2 mouse to work with a cable that is PS2 on one side and USB on the other. I do get an install new hardware wizard, but the mouse is not recognized. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks

sounds like a drivers issue. in my opinion if you want to get rid of this headache, i would just spend the money on a usb mouse. they are pretty dang cheap these days.

knoweldge is power, spread the power

On some programs/applications mainly games, even if you have the correct drivers the mouse still won't work. But yeah you would be best to just get a USB mouse to avoid the hassle of it all!!! :)

Not all adapters work with all mice. I've never used a ps2-usb adapter yet, but I know ps2-serial adapters did not work for all brands of mice.

Done - Got a USB Optical mouse for $10 after rebate at Office Max this weekend.
