Using LPT/COM as a filehandle? 1

Hi

I tried asking a similar question earlier, but didn't get a very clarifying answer, so I dare to try again.

Basically, I am hoping for a simple code example which outputs text directly to LPT1 or COM1 without addressing any Windows printers.

The purpose is sending clean text strings to some odd proprietary label printers from a control application. The only thing missing is how to access COM1 for text output

Use the MSComm Control:

For example, outputing text will be as simple as:
MSComm1.Output = "abc"

Of course, you'll need to configure the port: baud rate, parity, etc... And open it.
