Rather than use font management software I have been loading fonts into the Application Fonts folder of InDesign CS3.

For some, but not all files that I open, ID goes to my fonts library and not the CS3 folder.

Why? How can I set things up so that ID will always look to its font folder first?

...your OS determines which order of font location to search first, and it will always look in system folders before anywhere else...

...you have two options, keep your system folder fonts clean, leaving only the system critical fonts the OS requires, then indesign will only find fonts useful in the indesign font folder...

...option two is to use a font management program, which is by far the better choice as it is easier to organize huge collections of fonts...
