Hello to all,

May I know can I ghost a Server with 2 x 36GB HDD(For O/S) and 4 x 73GB HDD(For Data) to another 10 servers with same spec.

Coz I have 10 servers to rush for implementation next week...therefore I'm thinkin to ghost the server.

If possible to ghost, why things i have to take note of??

Need advices urgently.

Million of thanks in advance.

Thanks and Regards

Are these hard drives raided? If they are you might have a bit of a struggle. Look at this page from symantec

It also gives you information about mass cloning machines for rollouts.

Hi Jump1ng, thx for ur reply.

Yes the HDD will be raided as RAID 1 for the 2 x 36GB HDD and RAID 5 for the 4 x 73GB HDD. So is there any problems on the imaging?

I'm thinkin to use either the Acronis True Image for Server or Symantec Ghost to do the ghosting.

Thx for ur advice.

Thanks and Regards

Did you look at the link?

This is the part about raid.
"RAID arrays
Ghost is not compatible with RAID systems. That is, Symantec Ghost 8.0 and earlier do not support RAID controllers on the computers that are being imaged. Although Ghost might successfully clone a RAID system in some circumstances, Symantec does not provide technical support when Ghost is used for this purpose. For more information, see the document Ghost compatibility with RAID."

I would recommend you to have a look at the document and follow the link about more information....

I have successfully used Ghost to use the same image between Compaq/HP servers. You have to create the virtual drives and the partitions on the controller first and Ghost sees the virtual drive as a standard drive.

Good Luck!!
