I have a DHCP Server setup and I have my servers/printers listed in an exclusion list, but some of my printers drop offline. Any reasons why? I took the DHCP server offline.
So you have your servers and printers set up with static IP, right? Just curious...what makes you think that one has anything to do with the other?
Just a suggestion... If you think the DHCP server is the problem, then why no recreate the scope so that it does not run into those addresses at all, i.e. scope = 192.168.1.50 - 192.168.1.150 and the address of the printers/servers = 192.168.1.151 >. If the IP addresses of the printers and servers are not in the scope range then you can eliminate the DHCP server as a possible source of the problem.
I have found other reasons for printers and servers dropping offline. 1. switch and NIC incompatability; 2. wrong duplex settings on the NIC; 3. faulty ports on hub/switch; 4. corrupt NIC drivers; 5. firmware needing updating; 6. print q needs rebuilding; and more.
