First of all, i'm not a Netware guru, so please forgive me if i use the wrong terminology here.
My problem is the following:
We need to put a Windows 2000 Server in an existing Netware 6 environment. On this W2K server there is a running application that will control our access-control-system hardware-controlers. Also, there is a database, Access 2000, on that server.
This database needs to be accessed from some desktop computers, running Windows and a Novell Client. Now we need to access the share on the W2K server with the database from this client, BUT, is this possible through a Netware Mapping?
In other words, can Novell Server make a mapping to a drive for the client, let's say M: to SYS:FAKEVOLUME\, pretending it is on the Netware server, but actually it is redirecting to a share on the windows server, let's say \\W2KSVR\REALDIR.
We especially do not want to let the client connect directly to this w2k server, because than we have to use extra usernames and shares to connect, and that is no option here.
I hope i explained it clearly, please advise... thanx a lot!
