Using a router with a Counterstrike server

I have been trying to make a server for Counterstrike for a long time the problem is that i am behind a router. I have a RT314 netgear router and i have st up the filters and dowloaded the patch for it. It still wont work and i am in desperate need of some help. Be specific please cause i have lost my mind and my ability to think properly. :)
