Hello,
I went to this store the other day, and I saw the cashier working with a hand-scanner to scan product bar codes. I also noticed she had Access open and it was displaying her the product price and description each time she scanned a bar code. I just wanted to know more about it. Does anyone know how it works? Can it work with just any hand scanner? Or did she have a special bar-code scanner? What function does Access use to interpret the bar code? If you have any info on that kind of Access utilization please let me know. Thanks

VBAguy22,

you should be able to use any barcode scanner, such as intermec or wasp. do a search on google for "barcode scanners" and you'll see a bunch. you will want a scanner that connects with your keyboard, any application will then interpret the data from the scanner as comming from a keyboard. not that hard to do, just scan the data into a field then do a lookup.
hth

longhair
