Usinf GFS

I want to start using this facility but do not have enough tapes - do I need to get them all at the start or can I buy them as needed?

GFS rotation schemes are predefined rotation jobs but you can still change the settings. The default 5 days GFS setting requires 21 tapes to start with ( if your backup uses one tape per job ). After you have submitted the job, go to the media pool manager and view the newly created media pools ( 3 pools for GFS ). In there you can adjust the amount of tapes you wish to use for your GFS rotation scheme. GFS always allows you to add extra tapes to the pools by adding blank media or by assigning used media to the save and scratch sets. Try it out and you'll see what I mean.
