Hello, i m kinda disoriented and have no idea why it s happen.

Here the situation : All my users use the same .mdw file on the network, du to some changement in the BD, i had to add more permission to a grp. So i do it during the day, some people was using this file at same time i edited the permission.

The result, on my PC the new permission are effective, but on all other PC, they dont have the new permission, but we all on the same .mdw file, how it can happen, and how to fix this?

Is it a error or it s possible to have exact same user using the exact same .mdw file and using the same exact frontend, but on 2 different PC and have different access to table/form

Do i m not clear or people just dont have any idea?

Have all users quit the application since you made the changes. If not, have them do so then check for the problem again.

Make absolutely sure all users actually join the workgroup on the network. If security was not set up correctly, they may still have permissions granted through the system.mdw default workgroup. Also, verify that the user ADMIN has been removed from the ADMINS group and all permission removed from the group USERS.

Warning: Make sure you make a backup of the database and workgroup file BEFORE you make changes to the workgroup file. Make sure, too, that you have a new user created and assigned to the ADMINS workgroup. This new administrator should also be given ownership of the database and all objects.

Thx Molaker

I though ownership of table was set inside the .mdw ...

But it look to not. I reset table to right owner on one version of the front end, then copied it back on broke PC, and it fixed the problem.

When i made changement in the .mdw file, people who was already inside the DB got all table owner reset to default admin user.

So on this table who the owner got reset, the new permission haven t apply and can t be managed anymore from my .mdw file on server until i ask these people to destroy the front end file.

Not sure if it s intend to work like this, but it s kinda security hole imo

Do you have tables in the front-end?

Table permissions are maintained in the database that contains the tables, not in the MDW file. Basically, all the MDW file does is maintain user ID's and group assignments and serve as an interface to the database hidden system tables. Ownership is SET through the MDW file, but the result is stored in the database.

Table are linked into front end, real table are in back end, which never been corrupted like the front end.

permission on linked table in the front end got change
