Users Country ??

I want to keep a log of the users who logged in into our site,the place from where the user logged in,the logged in date and time.... everything.

How can we retreive the country from where the user logged in ??

Shd I create a text file for storing all this information,or shd it be stored in the database.

Any suggestions ?

that much data a text file will get trashed after a few months. a few days if the site is hit quite often.

There are a few examples on getting the geographical location via ASP out there you can utilize.

http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&q=geographic+location+from+ip+asp

You can also hit some sites out there that will do the work for you via XMLHTTP POST.

http://www.4guysfromrolla.com/webtech/110100-1.2.shtml

Just do another google on sites that will do the geographical look up for you and see if they allow this action. It may be tough to find one. I know I used one a long time ago, but it is escaping me what the url was at the moment.

The article (from the google search by u) says that one has to download a database and some files.

I thought it would be very easy.....
I will give it a try.
