I just took over as the computer systems admin. The guy before me was a bit of a control freak who completely locked down his systems with Tweak Manager and with his own poorly written .exe files. I've been able to free up most of the computers and undo the tweak manager changes but there is one problem I still have. On the C: drive he has a .exe that he wrote called "restrictions" along with a .dat file to go along with it. What this file does is that whenever you click on a shortcut to launch a program it asks for a password. If I delete both the restrictions.exe and dat file, then click on the shortcut to launch a program, it searches for the "restrictions.exe" and won't launch because it can't find it. Any ideas on how I can undo this? As far as I know he wrote the executable himself.

Thanks

If the issue proved persistant, I would run AutoRuns, freeware from the wonderful Sysinternals Group, and disable the obvious interventions whether they be service entries or otherwise implemented. Once the hook to the LNK files is identified, you could create a custom cleaning .bat file.

AutoRuns - don't leave home without it. Enable under View all options before the scan-

I purchased 321 DVD X Copy Platinum online and when I entered the User ID and Password from the case, I was denied access by the server. 321 is out of business and their help line is shut down. How can I get this software to work?
