I have an old labtop that has Windows NT 4.0 on it. I have two users on the system. Both of them are members of the admin group. One of the two users has very limited access to the environment. He cannot see any icons on the desktop and has a very limited start menu. I need to get this user fully functional.

I tried deleting the account and recreating it and it's the same sotry. I tried creating a new account with a different username and everything was fine!!! Seems like there's something limiting that username. Any insights? Thanks

I have deleted this profile in the WinNT folder. Is there another way to do this? Thanks.

Its been a while since I've even see NT, let alone done anything with it.
But, considering you've fully investigated the Profiles, and it appears not to be these... it may well be a Policy that causing the problems.
I can't remember the name of the Policy file - its either 'Config.Pol' or something like 'NTUser.Pol' - but having never done much with them I can't remember the exact name, or where they live. Something tells me its on the DC's Netlogon share - but you say these are local account to that machine - therefore they are likely to be on the workstation.

Run a search for '*.pol', once you've found the likely candidate, use 'poledit' to open the policy and change it.

It can be removed as well - but again, I can't remember how.

Good luck!
