I am having a problem with my Portal 2003. Whenever a user is deleted from AD, the import process tags the profiles as missing from import, but the profiles are not deleting themselves.

Has anyone else seen this issue?

That is correct. Profiles will show as missing from import for several full import cycles.

Also found this, if it might be of any help

It will modify the PROF database, so it might be a last option, since modifying sharepoint databases are not supported by microsoft, and you might end up losing any support from Microsoft (or atleast they will ask you to restore the database to it's original state)

Here is also another link i found

Cheers,
Thomas

User profiles will still be in the Sharepoint profile database even if the AD accounts are deleted and imported. You have to manually purge the profiles missing from the import by deleting them within the profile database under site settings.

So other than modding the prof db as described in the other posts, there is no way for sharepoint to automatically drop profiles that are missing from the import after X number of full cycles?
